TITLE: Living in the Garden of Africa. I live in George, South Africa which is in the heart of the "Garden Route", one of the most scenic parts of the Country. George is situated between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean. We are blessed with large indigenous forests, a chain of five lakes and wetlands, many beautiful species of flora and spectacular mountain passes. There are many holiday resorts and every year thousands of tourists come here to explore the mountains, forests and beaches. There
are activities such as golf courses,paragliding,canoeing, boating and hiking to mention a few. Just over the mountain the landscape changes completely to beauty of another kind. The dry hot region of the little Karoo. Fifty kilometers away you can visit Oudtshoorn and see the Cheetah Wildlife Ranch, where you can actually interact with the cheetahs, ostrich farms and the Cango
Caves with their amazing stalagmite and stalactite formations. From there you can cross over the Swartberg mountains travelling on a really spectacular pass, built in 1880, with wonderful rock formations, to the little hamlet of Prince Albert with original buildings dating from
the 1800's. We are never bored living in this area with so many wonderful drives and places to visit on our doorstep. |
